Hi everyone, it's nice to be doing this week's blog :)
I've been here nearly a week, since last Tuesday - after Fed Cup, which was in Switzerland, I went home for one day to repack, then came straight here.
The conditions are a lot different to what we're used to, with the altitude. The ball flies here quite a bit - which isn't a surprise, because we're at 2700m - and you have to get used to the breathing, too. But that's why I came here early, to prepare and get used to it all. I've had enough time and had some good hits, and I think I've adjusted. I'm anxious to get going - my first match is tomorrow!
I've had good results on every surface, fast and slow, but I really like playing on clay. This is only one tournament on clay then it's back to hardcourt though (then we get back to clay after Miami). And actually this is almost not like clay because it's so fast - it's not really one of those typical slow clay courts.
I've been going out to dinner every night here, the restaurants are fantastic - the food has been great. We've been going to Italian places, because that's my favorite (and we go to mostly what I like!) I look forward to it every night.
I start tomorrow against a qualifier, Paula Ormaechea. Every match is tough and playing a qualifier is especially tough, because they have already had some matches. I have to be in form straight away and get a good start tomorrow - that's about it. As I said I'm anxious to get on the court and play!!
I'll talk to you all again tomorrow night. Thank you for reading :)
Jelena
